Cell phones are one of my favorite types of electronics to sell on eBay. And honestly, I probably sell more older phones than newer ones. Newer smartphones are obviously valuable, but they can be harder to come across cheaply. People have trade-in programs, carrier upgrades, and other easy ways to get some value out of

If you buy used electronics on eBay long enough, you’re going to see one word over and over again: Untested. Sometimes the seller doesn’t have the battery. Sometimes they don’t have the charger, cable, or other equipment needed to test the item. Sometimes they sell mostly clothing or household items and simply don’t know much

Used electronics have become one of the main things I sell on eBay. Phones, iPods, cameras, portable audio players, game systems, older electronics — basically anything relatively small that can still have decent value. I didn’t start out knowing that was going to be my category. When I first started reselling, I tried clothing too.

Broken electronics can still be worth selling. I sell a lot of used electronics, and not everything I buy ends up being fully functional. Sometimes a phone turns on but the screen doesn’t work. Sometimes a CD player powers on but the disc won’t spin. Sometimes an iPod works except for the battery. Sometimes I

Packing electronics for eBay doesn’t have to be complicated. Most of what I sell is relatively small — phones, iPods, cameras, small electronics, accessories, and similar items. Packing is the final part of a much bigger workflow. I explain how I source, test, photograph, price, and sell these items in How I Sell Used Electronics

Returns are one of the less enjoyable parts of selling on eBay, but if you sell enough items, they’re going to happen. As of September 2026, my return rate is about 2.3%. I’d obviously prefer that number to be lower, but I also sell a lot of used electronics. Phones, iPods, cameras and other older

When you’re creating an eBay listing, one of the decisions you can make is whether to sell the item through an auction or list it at a fixed Buy It Now price. I’ve sold thousands of items on eBay, and I’ve never used an auction to sell one. That’s not because auctions don’t work. They

Should you promote your eBay listings? I’ve used Promoted Listings for a long time, usually at a very low percentage. Until I looked at my actual numbers for this article, I didn’t realize how much of my sales eBay was attributing to them. From January 1 through August 23, 2026, 74% of my sales were
